Founded in Strasbourg in 1949, Cafés Henri is an independent, family-owned French coffee roaster. From our first shop on rue des Hallebardes, our aim has remained the same: to select great coffees, roast them with care and make good coffee accessible to everyone.
From individual customers to restaurants, hotels, businesses, retailers and public organisations, the same commitment to flavour, consistency and expert advice runs through everything we do.
Today, Cafés Henri has 86 employees, and our original shop is still welcoming customers in Strasbourg.
Led by Christine and Frédéric Steiner, alongside their son Victor Steiner.

Passing on a passion for good coffee from one generation to the next.
Cafés Henri has grown steadily over the decades, but its character has remained firmly rooted in what matters to us: staying close to our customers, knowing our craft and making our own choices.
Christine and Frédéric Steiner began taking the business forward in 1980, building on the qualities that had shaped Cafés Henri from the start: a genuine appreciation for the product, personal service, direct relationships and control over the roasting process.
Since 2018, their son Victor has been helping to shape the next chapter. Stores have been modernised, production tools have evolved and the business continues to move forward — without losing the family spirit that generations of customers have come to know.
Every great cup starts long before the coffee is brewed.
Origin, growing conditions, harvest, blending and roasting all play a part. We select our coffees for their quality, balance and flavour potential, looking for the qualities that make each one different — from roundness and sweetness to brightness, intensity and a long finish.
Roasting is central to the Cafés Henri approach. We favour a slow roast of around 20 minutes, at temperatures below 200°C, allowing the beans to develop gradually. The result is a more aromatic, well-defined and consistent cup, bringing out the character of the coffee rather than masking it.
For a business, good coffee has to do more than taste good. It needs to be consistent, suited to your equipment, easy to serve, reliable day after day and right for the experience you want to offer your customers.
That is where our experience comes in. We provide coffee, equipment, advice and ongoing support built around the way our customers actually work — from cafés, hotels and restaurants to workplace coffee, retail, vending and bespoke projects.
